Diop « Camélia » avait la main lourde et toujours un mégo à la bouche.  Le parachute se déploie. Les couleurs du pays, vert jaune rouge, apparaissent dans un ciel dégagé. C’est Dina. Tous les enfants sortent et saluent l’homme qui vole.

Le matin est une promesse qui se réalise.  Il a fait nuit. Il fait jour. Prendre un café, arroser mes plantes et sortir dans la rue. Me mêler à la petite foule devant les kiosques à journaux, dévorant les gros titres. Sentir l’odeur des corps  qui n’ont pas pris de douche au réveil. Debout, solennels, visages tournés vers les « unes ». Ils murmurent d’une voix inaudibles les titres des journaux.  Cette lecture publique ressemble à une prière en groupe. Envie d’envoyer des textos à mes confrères de la presse écrite. « Vos titres sont racoleurs, mes gars ». Non, ils dorment encore à cette heure. Ils « bouclent » tard. La « Une » c’est la page que j’aime moins dans un  journal. Ça  fait un peu télé. Elle donne plus à voir à lire. J’écoute les commentaires. Les jours où j’avais calcul, je mettais un pull sous ma chemise. Le maitre Diop « Camélia » avait la main lourde et toujours un mégo à la bouche. Sa cravache en lanière de pneu qui fend l’air « Swwwiff »  comme un ovni atterrit sur votre dos et vous laisse des marques pour la vie.

La division, c’est l’opération pour laquelle j’ai pris plus de coups à l’école. Diviser, partager, distribuer. Je crois derrière mon incapacité à résoudre cette opération, Diop Camélia soupçonnait un relent égoïste. C’est ce qu’il cherchait  à réprimer si sévèrement. En vain ?

Diop Camélia est mort un matin, deux mois avant l’examen d’entrée en sixième. Un torticolis causé par un oreiller mal ajusté. En traversant, la route il n’a pas bien regardé le camion qui arrivait à toute allure. Evidemment, ce fut l’hécatombe pour ma classe.  Presque tous recalés. Je ne savais pas qu’un oreiller pouvait être aussi dramatique pour toute une génération.

Grand, teint foncé, pomme d’Adam saillante, Diop Camélia fumait beaucoup cette marque de cigarette sans filtre. S’il vous surprend en train de jouer au foot dans la rue, le lendemain matin vous êtes sûr d’entendre : «au tableau ! » La promesse se réalise toujours.  Diop Camélia créait ses textes de dictée lui- même,  contrairement aux maitres qui puisaient dans les annales d’examen. Il disait  qu’avant de dicter des mots à ses élèves, il doit être certain de savoir bien les écrire lui-même.  Et diable quel texte, il vous sortait. Extrait : «Au musée, l’exposition rétroperspective rassemblait à un  amas d’objets  hétéroclites : un vrai capharnaüm… ».

En dictée je m’en tirais mieux. Il me remettait ma copie avec une once de fierté et me disait : «  Zéro faute » . Je ne sais comment, il aurait vécu cette époque de textos.

Pour Dina. Un matin, au-dessus de nos têtes, dans le ciel, une tache sombre qui descend. Lentement.  Le parachute se déploie. Les couleurs du pays, vert jaune rouge, apparaissent dans un ciel dégagé. Peut-être que le parachutiste en question n’était même pas Dina.  Mais pour nous para = Dina.

Hier, l’émerveillement d’enfant devant l’homme qui vole. Aujourd’hui, la tristesse  d’adulte d’apprendre, au  détour d’une conversation fortuite, que le héros de jeunesse est mort il y a une dizaine d’années dans une mission des Nations Unies au Congo…

Le grand saut. Sans para. La promesse se réalise toujours.

Les cars rapides constituent le principal moyen de transport entre Dakar et sa banlieue. Ils sont impliqués dans la moitié des accidents et tuent chaque année des dizaines de gens sur les routes…

Pour rentrer chez moi le soir, j’aime bien prendre le « car rapide », ces tas de ferrailles baroques qui assurent la circulation entre Dakar et sa banlieue. A une heure tardive de la soirée, vers minuit, il y a de fortes chances de trouver votre place à côté d’un ivrogne, de prostituées usées qui finissent leur boulot plus tôt.

Le car rapide, c’est un moyen de transport convivial et franchement, ça détend après une longue journée de travail. C’est dans un car rapide que j’ai surpris un débat entre deux gars complètement bourrés. L’un conseillait à son camarade sur un ton emporté : « N’accepte jamais qu’on donne des suppositoires  à ton enfant. Ça va réveiller chez lui des désirs contre nature. Ces médicaments ont été inventés par des savants pédés pour propager leur vice… »

Mercredi dernier, j’ai été fidèle à mes habitudes de transport. Le car rapide était plein. J’ai trouvé une place dans le « salon », jusque derrière le chauffeur.

Sauf que ce soir-là, je crois que c’est le chauffeur qui était carrément ivre. Le gars a eu l’idée de faire le rallye entre Dakar et Pikine. A fond la vitesse. Résultat, il a fini sa course dans le ravin, après avoir heurté un 4×4 qui était devant lui et renversé un garde-fou en béton armé sur le trottoir. Voyant l’inévitable arrivé, le passager assis à côté du chauffeur, un jeune de homme de 20 ans, s’est précipité pour ouvrir la portière. Mal lui en prit : il s’est retrouvé coincé entre la carcasse du car rapide et la dalle du ravin. Il râlait comme un damné. Il fallait l’entendre. Il a fallu l’arrivée des sapeurs-pompiers pour le tirer de là, les jambes en miettes.

C’est le seul blessé sérieux. Le chauffeur a bien sûr pris la tangente pour éviter le lynchage. Il s’informera sans doute via la presse sur les dégâts qu’il a causés. Eh bien si tu lis ça, espèce de chauffard, sache que t’es un vrai crétin ; et dis à ton apprenti de me rembourser mes 100 FCfa, tu étais censé me conduire chez moi et pas à  la mort…

On a tous failli y passer, vu l’allure avec lequel le car rapide roulait. Juste avant le choc, j’étais concentré sur mon portable en train d’envoyer un SMS à une amie cinéaste quand j’ai été alerté par un cri de terreur. Presque inhumain… Woooooy. Pour moi la mort aura ce bruit pour toujours.  C’est ainsi qu’elle s’annoncera quand elle viendra un jour toquer à ma porte.

Le lendemain matin, je me suis réveillé avec un mal de tête affreux. J’ai dû cogner la paroi du car rapide assez sérieusement au moment du choc. J’ai le crâne cabossé, mais je n’ai pas eu de traumatisme.  La preuve : je me souviens parfaitement de ma date de naissance : le 25 mars 19…  du nom de mon chat (mousmi) de mon plat favori : le riz au poisson. J’ai bu mon café en repensant à l’accident…

Ç ’aurait été bête de mourir ainsi. Je pense à tous ces gens qui une fois qu’ils auraient formulé une pensée pieuse à mon égard, auraient maugréé en silence : « Il a été vraiment idiot de prendre un car rapide à cette heure. » . « Cela ne me surprend pas, il est radin, ne prend jamais le taxi… »

Ç ’aurait été malheureux de quitter ce monde ainsi. Mourir de façon aussi insensée. Surtout pour un gars, comme moi, qui veille sur sa santé comme l’huile sur le feu.  Passer toute sa vie à surveiller son alimentation, son taux de sucre, fuir le tabac, l’alcool, faire du jogging chaque matin pour finir comme ça, quel gâchis ! Et puis si je repense à tout l’effort qu’il a fallu faire pour naître et grandir. Passer entre les mailles des programmes de planning, esquiver le palu, les épidémies… Survivre en Afrique demande une sacrée dose d’ingéniosité. J’ai toujours vu les vieillards  comme des gens diablement futés qui ont su (provisoirement) esquiver les nombreuses trappes de la mort.

Je sais qu’on ne me demandera pas mon avis ; mais je mérite une mort, plus raffinée, plus intelligente. Moi, qui suis un fervent passionné de littérature et de jazz et autres douceurs de la vie.

Ça ne me tente nullement de mourir jeune, dans la force de l’âge. Malgré ses avantages certains. Laisser un cadavre en forme. Des funérailles réussies avec la présence des nombreux collègues, des amis. La minute de silence avant le match du dimanche matin. Le morceau de tissu noir au bras des coéquipiers.

Je sais que la mort n’avertit pas. Elle viendra en invité surprise, et laissera tout en plan. Une chambre à ranger, des  livres à lire sur ma table de chevet, un blog en chantier, une dette de 5 275 F à payer au boutiquier, des pantalons à récupérer chez le blanchisseur, un paquet de manix sous mon oreiller, un crédit de 125 sur mon téléphone chinois deux puces, des films en téléchargement sur mon ordi…

Ce matin, j’ai décidé de vous parler de mon chat que j’ai baptisé Mousmi. C’est un animal sympathique tout noir. Je l’ai adopté il y a bientôt quatre ans. Je l’ai trouvé un matin de janvier devant la porte de ma chambre. Ils étaient, deux en fait, deux petits chatons, tout mignons. Deux boules de fourrure, les yeux à peine ouverts. Je les ai recueillis et placés dans une caisse en carton. Mais seul Mousmi a survécu. En fait, j’ai assassiné l’autre chaton, son frère jumeau sans m‘en rendre compte. Dans ma volonté de bien faire, je les gavés de lait de mouton. Je les nourrissais avec un petit biberon qu’ils tétaient goulûment de leurs petites langues roses. Seulement à cet âge,  les chatons ne savent pas digérer tout seuls leur repas. Il faut leur donner un coup de pouce.

J’entends d’ici les objections des lecteurs de ce blog  : « On s’en fout de toi et de ton chat, depuis quand adopter un chat est devenu une discipline sportive ? » D’accord. Mais, je veux vous démontrer que mon chat a toutes les qualités d’un grand buteur.

J’ai donc appris, en lisant un site Internet dédié aux félins, comment on s’y prend pour aider les petits chatons à digérer leur repas et faire une sieste : il faut tremper un doux tissu dans une bassine d’eau tiède et leur frotter le bas du ventre avec. Si vous faites bien attention, c’est ce que fait Mama chat avec sa langue quand elle a fini de donner le « sein » à ses petits. Un peu comme vous et moi prenons une tisane bien chaude après un repas copieux.  En tant que mère de substitution, je me suis appliqué à la tâche. Malgré toute mon attention maternelle, l’autre chaton n’a pas survécu, il avait le ventre tellement gonflé. L’indigestion était déjà à un stade critique quand j’ai commencé à lui appliquer des compresses tièdes.

Quand Mousmi est devenu plus grand, on m’a conseillé de l’amener au marché ou à une décharge publique, où il pourra se nourrir facilement. J’ai refusé catégoriquement. Même si la veille de la Saint-Valentin, j’ai pensé sérieusement à m’en débarrasser quand il a posé ses griffes sur mes chaussures en daim neuves. Mais à part ça, on s’entend bien. On m’avait dit qu’il va « pisser sur tes meubles et ça va puer le chat partout chez toi ». Tout ça, c’est de la diffamation.

Mon chat quand il a besoin de faire ses besoins, il sort dans la rue et le fait sur le sable. Et il prend toujours le soin de tout enterrer. Bon nombre d’humains n’observent pas cette mesure d’hygiène élémentaire, si j’en juge par le nombre de défections solides que j’esquive, et parfois de peu, quand je fais mon jogging matinal vers la plage. Ma course est semée d’embûches. Je passe d’un slalom à un saut d’obstacles. On m’a dit que c’est un fou qui jalonne ainsi le parcours sportif. C’est possible. Mais vu la régularité des obstacles organiques (enroulés en virgule ou en 8, lâchés sans doute au prix d’une forte poussée abdominale : on ne connaît pas l’intérêt de travailler ses abdos tant qu’on n’a pas attrapé une des têtues constipations) ; je dis donc sans ambages qu’un homme sain d’esprit et de corps aide notre fou à baliser le parcours sportif qui mène à la plage. Il faut que cela cesse. Ce n’est même pas digne d’un chat bien éduqué, comme le mien.

De retour de mon footing matinal, c’est une longue séance de décrottage qui m’attend. J’ai envie de poser une pancarte pour inviter les fous et les « normaux » à plus de civisme : « Défense de faire caca, amende 6 000 F ». En attendant, si quelqu’un a une meilleure idée, il peut toujours me dire.

Si je vous parle de mon chat aujourd’hui, c’est que je lui trouve toutes les qualités qu’on loue chez un grand sportif : il faut voir Mousmi à l’affût derrière le canapé de mon salon importé. Il peut rester concentré, replié sur ses pattes pendant des heures attendant le bon moment pour sauter sur la souris qui a eu la malheureuse idée de sortir de son trou. C’est ce qu’on appelle avoir de la détermination, du flair, le bon timing. Mousmi a tous les instincts d’un grand buteur, enfin d’un buteur de souris. CQFD. Merci de votre patience

Je me demande si le sport n’est pas devenu une nouvelle forme d’expression de la citoyenneté urbaine, une nouvelle façon d’habiter la cité. Les villes d’ailleurs tracent des parcours sportifs, aménagent des aires de jeu, organisent des marathons sponsorisés par les marques prestigieuses, et les chaines de supermarché. Cette épidémie de la pratique sportive est entretenue par le culte du jeunisme. Ailleurs où le portefeuille le permet c’est à coups de botox, de lifting et autres produits anti-âge qu’on répond à ce dogme des temps modernes : garder la forme. Au grand bonheur des marchands d’illusion. Pour nous faire bouger, les gens inventent toutes sortes d’astuces. Le sport est bon pour le cœur. Ça favorise une bonne tonicité du muscle cardiaque, une bonne fixation de l’oxygène par les hémoglobines. Il prévient contre le risque d’infarctus, d’accident vasculaire cérébral, etc… Il faut avoir avec soi un manuel de médecine interne pour être convaincu des vertus du sport. Pourquoi ne pas dire que ça permet d’être plus performant au lit ? C’est tellement plus simple dans un pays où il y a rupture de préservatifs un samedi sur deux. Je passe par des moments d’hypersensibilité. Des moments où je suis plus réceptif au charme ambiant autour de moi. Dans la rue, je m’attarde un peu plus sur les hanches qui roulent sous les pagnes. Moi qui suis allergique au caleçon, (ça me donne des irritations), c’est une vraie source de honte. Les bouffées érectiles peuvent surprendre n’importe qui. Elles sont plus fréquentes en période de chaleur. Le froid à tendance à geler les ardeurs : quand on sort de la douche froide, ça se rétracte comme la tête d’une tortue rentrée sous sa carapace… Comme si un voleur de sexe vous avait serré la main

Il y a de fortes chances qu’il s’appelle «papa» C’est aussi répandu qu’une épidémie de grippe saisonnières : tous les premiers fils s’appellent « papa », et si c’est une fille c’est « mama ». A la naissance, on vous donne un nom auquel vous n’avez jamais pensé, c’est votre première crise d’identité.

Voir une femme allaiter me renvoie à mon angoisse de ne pas avoir encore enfanté. Un sentiment de défaite personnelle. Quelque part quelqu’un a réussi là où vous peinez encore à faire vos preuves. C’est aussi le même sentiment qui m’anime quand je vois dans les rues les femmes enceintes promener leur ventre rond.

Je pense que ce garçon qui tête est un premier fils. Je le vois à la nature du sein maternel. Il est encore, rond, opulent. Le téton noir foncé, droit. C’est un bébé de deux ans environ. Il prolonge les plaisirs la tétée. Il suce le mamelon et s’arrête et jette un regard circulaire autour de lui. C’est le silence dans le Tata. C’est pourquoi, il faut encourager la planification familiale.

Je vois dans la tradition qui donne à l’homme la femme de son défunt frère, la revanche d’une vieille rancune née du pillage du sein maternel par les ainés.

Je connais assez bien l’odeur corporelle des jeunes mères ; elles sentent le lait régurgité et la poudre de talc.

Je mets en cause la pub mensongère sur les produits de beauté dans le taux élevé du divorce à Dakar. Les femmes croient que leur déodorant dure effectivement 24 heures : alors le soir les maris, en plus de la fatigue accumulée dans la journée, n’arrivent pas à les supporter à leurs côtés. Revenons à nos crises érectiles, j’ai remarqué que beaucoup de gens menaient une sexualité à peu près tranquille dans les transports en commun à Dakar. Les bus bondés sont d’intenses occasions de palper une paire de fesses, de se frotter à ses nichons aguichants. Les secousses occasionnées par les dos d’ânes favorisent les changements de positions. Seuls, les idiots qui n’arrivent plus à se contrôler se font attraper. Mais que voulez-vous toute sexualité, aussi misérable soit –elle, comporte des risques.

J’écrase deux mouches en plein coït contre les pages de mon journal. Avez-vous remarqué que les insectes qui s’accouplent sont plus vulnérables, plus faciles à attraper. Ils sont tellement concentrés sur leur affaire qu’elles ne voient pas le danger arriver. L’union ne fait pas toujours la force.

Mon défunt ami, le vieux Maha Diop  (Paix à son âme) était un vrai adepte du jourgaut. Ce vétéran de la Seconde Guerre mondiale qui a clamsé l’année dernière était toujours paré de sa médaille de tirailleur. Veuf depuis plusieurs années (en réalité je ne lui jamais connu de femme), c’était un inconditionnel du jourgaut. Il en connaissait les moindres secrets. Il l’élevait au rang de pratique rituelle. Il avait toute une basse-cour pour assouvir ce plaisir. Quand ça le chatouillait aux oreilles, il se levait brusquement toute activité cessante (même s’il était en pleine prière) et poursuivait de sa démarche claudicante (conséquence de la vieillesse et d’une blessure de guerre) une pintade dans la vaste cour de sa maison où il vivait seul depuis des décennies. Il attrapait sans difficulté le volatile caquetant et lui arrachait une plume tendre au niveau des ailes. Une plume comme il faut : pas trop molle, mais assez résistante pour ne pas se briser à l’effilochage. Il épluchait la plume en laissant une touffe à l’extrémité, qu’il  mouillait avec le bout de la langue ; de la façon dont on mouille un joint roulé. Les yeux fermés, le vieux Maha se plaçait alors en tailleur, le dos appuyé contre le gros manguier qui trônait dans sa cour,  plaçait la plume entre le pouce et l’index, avant de la glisser dans l’oreille de la tournoyer doucettement dans les deux sens. Plusieurs fois, j’ai surpris le vieux Maha dans cette position, les yeux fermés tout abandonné à son plaisir, passant d’une oreille à l’autre. Il ne se rendait pas compte de ma présence. Sa manœuvre était généralement interrompue par un bref frisson qui le secouait de tout son corps. Après quoi, il retirait la plume de son oreille et la mettait dans ses cheveux. Ensuite, il devenait increvable sur son passé de tirailleur, racontant des anecdotes inspirées de sa rude bataille avec les Allemands dans les Vosges.

Le jourgaut rend-il ivre ? Je sais qu’il peut procurer un plaisir égal à l’orgasme. On raconte l’histoire de ce policier à un carrefour et qui en même temps qu’il réglait la circulation se livrait à l’exercice du jourgaut ; foudroyé par l’excitation, il balança les bras dans tous les sens pour se maintenir en équilibre, créant dans la foulée des carambolages monstres, causant avec plusieurs blessés.

Je suis un adapte du jourgaut. Puisque je n’ai pas de volaille à ma portée, j’utilise le papier. Le papier le plus confortable pour l’oreille est le ticket de caisse des supermarchés, grâce à son revers lisse et tendre. A défaut, je déchire la marge d’un journal imprimé. J’enroule avec finesse le papier de journal, mordille un peu le bout pour le rendre tendre, l’humecte de ma salive et le glisse lentement dans l’oreille. Je savoure ce plaisir simple solitaire.  C’est légal et gratuit. Mais attention, l’excès de jourgaut donne des irritations. Célibataires de tous les pays à vos plumes.
